  • Message loop may result from bcc functionality of ERM. ERMOnSave processes consume resources of Exchange server system

ERM managed resources may send messages to one another in a message loop which consumes all resources of affected system. The message loop is evident due to the number of ERMOnSave processes spawned and messages in a managed resource mailbox from another managed resource.

    CAUSE:

A coding error for the ”blind copies of meeting requests” functionality causes optional attendees of meeting requests to receive blind copies of the meeting requests in addition to the user/group configured to receive the blind copies of these requests. If another resource were invited in the original request as an optional attendee, this can result in a message loop since the resource will attempt to automatically process the meeting request and send a response to another managed resource.

    RESOLUTION:
Upgrade to ERM v.1.3.1016.1 which is the current release on the Web that resolves this issue or disable blind copies of meeting requests in ERM.

To Disable Blind copies of meeting requests in ERM:

    1. From the ERM Mailbox Browser, click Edit->Global Configuration Properties

    2. On the Notifications tab of the ERM Global Configuration Properties, remove any addresses/accounts from the “Email addresses to receive blind copies of meeting requests” section

    3. Click "OK" to close the ERM Global Configuration Properties window

    4. Similarly, any resources that are configured individually to send blind copies of meeting requests should have this configuration cleared.
